Mental Health Services may be closed for a variety of reasons, sometimes due to plans to 'modernise' mental health care, and sometimes due to financial constraints. It is possible to challenge closures in your area, if you feel you or someone you care for will be disadvantaged by them.
This factsheet looks at:
-why some mental health facilities are being closed
-what this might mean for service users
-the proper consultation process before a service can be closed
-if anything can be done to stop closures
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that single copies of individual fact sheets are available free of charge to users of mental health services and their carers, but multiple copies are chargeable to organisations at the rates shown per copy. Photocopying of fact sheets by organisations is strictly prohibited.
