Testimony

The advent of community care and the closing down of the old asylums brought a whole way of life to an end, and few people now remember what it was like for those who passed through the asylum doors as patients.

This 24 minute video looks at some of the themes which emerged from the Testimony Archive of over fifty interviews. People who spent significant periods of time in the old asylums talk about their lives from admission to discharge, including institutional life, treatments, resistance and relationships.
