How do I buy products online?

Once you have chosen your resource, you can add it to your shopping basket by clicking on the buy button. You may then continue browsing the website or proceed to the check out by following the instructions given. You can see what is in your shopping basket at any time by clicking on the basket icon in the top right hand corner of the page.

Prices and VAT

Prices shown are inclusive of any applicable value added tax (VAT). VAT is not charged on books, but is added to electronic products such as videos and DVDs. Any invoice you receive will split out the VAT amounts, where applicable.

Payment options

You can use a credit or debit card to buy products online. Organisations may request an invoice subject to providing us with a valid purchase order number. We may also contact the organisation to confirm their order prior to shipment.

Rethink staff and services may order online using a valid project code. You will need to add this to the project code field when completing your details in the shopping basket.

Credit and debit card payments

If paying by credit or debit card, you will need to enter your credit or debit card details. We accept the following payment methods: Visa, MasterCard, Delta, Switch (UK Maestro), JCB, Visa Electron and Solo.

Payment is taken on a secure site through our payment provider, Worldpay. WorldPay is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

Order confirmation

Once your card and payment has been authorised, you will receive an email from Mental Health Shop confirming your order. You will also receive an email from Worldpay to confirm your payment.

Post and packaging charges

Postage is included in the price of chargeable products.

Some products are free in single copies for people using services and their carers.  More than one copy of the same product may be chargeable but includes all postage charges. 

Some products are free for both single and multiple copy orders. 

Postage is free for up to 5 free items ordered. For more than 5 free items in your order, packaging and postage will be charged as follows:

21-50 free items  £8.20
51-99 free items  £13.50
100 + free items  £17.00

Delivery timescales

Our estimated delivery timescale is between 7-10working days. This timescale should give you an idea of when to expect your order, but is not guaranteed.

Cancellation and returns

If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may cancel your order. Simply return it to us in its original condition within 28 days from the date of purchase, stating whether you wish to receive a replacement or a full refund.

If the return is the result of our error (including faulty or damaged goods), we will also refund the postage (where applicable). Please enclose either a copy of the paper invoice enclosed with the delivery, or a printout of the online receipt you were sent by email. The package should be securely wrapped and sent to:

We are committed to protecting your privacy and to ensure your online transaction is secure. The information you provide when you buy a product online is held on a secure server. This ensures no unauthorised access to your details. This information is used to take payment and to process and fulfil your order.

As a Mental Health Shop customer we may also contact you with relevant information on mental health issues, as well as new product information. You may chose to opt-out of this communication with us when completing your details in the shopping basket when you place your order. Alternatively, you can call us on 0845 456 0455 and we will update our records on your behalf. Discounts

Some customers will receive a discount code which qualifies them to a reduced price on some or all of their order. If you have a discount code, you will need to add this into the appropriate box in the shopping basket at the time of ordering to claim your discount. Rethink members and staff

Rethink members receive a 25% discount on Rethink publications. Rethink members can obtain their discount by calling 0845 456 0455 or by logging into the Rethink Members' Area. The Nov 06 issue of Your Voice also contains the discount code for members.

Rethink staff receive a discount on all Rethink publications they order to help them do their job. To find out more about this discount and to obtain your discount code, please refer to the Rethink staff website.

Organisations of 10 or less employees

If you are ordering on behalf of an organisation or group of 10 or less employees, you are entitled to a 20% discount on many of our videos and DVDs. If a product you are ordering qualifies for this discount, you will see a message in the shopping basket asking you to tick a box to indicate that your organisation or group has less than 10 employees. You will then benefit from a 20% discount on the price of this product.

Promotion codes

Catalogues, order forms and email promotions may include a promotion code. This code helps us to track where orders come from. If you are ordering on the website following receipt of promotional material from us, please do check to see if there is a code on the order form that you can quote. You can add this to the appropriate box when you complete your details online as part of the order process.
